Gov. Nixon’s Campaign Starts 2012 with $5M In Bank for Re-elect
After raising more than 1.3 million in the final quarter of 2011, Gov. Jay Nixon’s re-elect campaign begins 2012 with more than $5 million in the bank – a cash-on-hand amount the campaign believes is higher than any 2012 gubernatorial candidate in the nation. In a show of grassroots strength, the campaign has received more than 5,500 contributions from every region of Missouri and has raised more than $260,000 in online contributions.
“Gov. Nixon is in a strong position to be re-elected because Missourians believe he’s been a strong and fiscally responsible leader during these challenging times,” said Oren Shur, Nixon’s campaign manager. “At a time when Missourians are sick of the gridlock in Washington, folks appreciate that Gov. Nixon is bringing people together here in Missouri to balance the budget, while holding the line on taxes and helping businesses create jobs. That’s why Gov. Nixon has such strong support from Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.”
